The Koblenz tricable gondola lift is an aerial ropeway that crosses the river Rhine in Koblenz. It was built as an attraction and ecologically sound transport connection for the German Federal Horticultural Show 2011 ('BUGA'). Since its opening to the public in June 2011, the lift connects the Rhine shores near the Basilica of St. Kastor with the plateau in front of the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. It is Germany's first tricable installation and with its 18 cabins reaches a remarkable transport capacity of 3,800 passengers per hour and direction. By agreement of the UNESCO in 2013, the lift can be operated until 2026.
