The Balderschwang operating company has invested in a new chairlift and expansion of the snowmaking facilities at the winter sports resort. Doppelmayr took charge of the planning and implementation of the new Hochschelpen 6-seater chairlift. It replaces a surface lift dating back to 1974. The new lift was built in six months using the alignment of its predecessor and can carry up to 2,000 passengers an hour. Guests can travel from the bottom to the top station in just over four minutes.
The new lift is part of a "ropeway program" of the Free State of Bavaria, which provided support for construction of the Hochschelpen lift and promotes further investment. Bavaria’s state secretary for economic affairs, Franz Josef Pschierer, believes that modern lift installations not only bring safety and comfort, but ultimately mean benefits for local hotels and businesses as a result of the increased number of guests.
