In Greece, Doppelmayr/Garaventa built a special ropeway installation consisting of two different systems. The lower lift is a detachable 8-passenger gondola and goes by the name of Aphrodite, while the upper Vakchos lift offers guests a choice between 6-seater chairs and 8-passengers cabins. The special feature of these ropeways is that the two can be combined as sections. Every fourth cabin arriving from the bottom station travels through the mid station and continues on up to the top station. While the lower section mainly acts as a feeder to a popular chalet, the combination lift is used for repeat uphill trips. The chairs are ideal for this purpose as they allow skiers to keep their skis on.
